Treister, a Winter Haven resident, will be at the reception and will present a lecture about his life in art at 7pm. After the lecture, a reception and signing of his newly published book Havana Forever: A Pictorial and Cultural History of an Unforgettable City will be held. Admission to the reception is free for Museum members and $10 for non-members. Kenneth Treister: The Colors of Nature is one of Polk Museum of Art's current exhibitions. The installation of paintings and sculptures takes a approach to the beauty of the garden. Instead of focusing on the details of individual plants surrounding his lushly landscaped Winter Haven home, Treister steps back and allows the forms to dissolve into shimmering silky colors, revealing what he calls "the patterns of nature." Kenneth Treister is an internationally acclaimed architect and sculptor. His work has been exhibited in museums across the United States, and his work has been featured in art and architecture journals world-wide. One of his most prominent sculptures is the 50 foot tall bronze Holocaust Memorial in Miami Beach. He was honored with a fellowship by the National American Institute of Architects and was awarded the Silver Medal by the Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The reception is sponsored in part by Friends of Kenneth Treister. For more information about the exhibitions please call 863-688-7743 or visit www.PolkMuseumofArt.org. # # #
