Polk Museum of Art is partnering with the Smithsonian Institution’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention & Innovation, the International Association of Skateboard Companies and the City of Lakeland to present Innoskate 2014, which will be held in conjunction with Go Skateboarding Day on Saturday, June 21.

All Decked Out
April 26, 2014 – July 20, 2014
As part of Innoskate 2014, the exhibition All Decked Out! will celebrate the artistic and innovative spirit of skateboarding. Polk Museum of Art is proud to host an exhibition of contemporary artworks that smack of the edgy aesthetic so often associated with skating.
Exhibition: June 21 – August 9, 2014
Recognition Ceremony (with Paul Schmitt during Innoskate): June 21 at 2pm
An exhibition highlighting middle student artwork created on skateboard decks designed through the CreateAskate.org program, founded by Paul Schmitt.
The Lemelson Center created Innoskate in 2013 on the anniversary of Go Skateboarding Day to celebrate the innovation and creative spirit of skateboarding. Now the Lemelson Center is broadening the celebration of skateboard culture by bringing Innoskate to two Smithsonian Affiliates, the Polk Museum of Art in June and the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle in August.
