Polk Museum of Art is pleased to announce the following artists won awards at the 2011 MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by the Lake. The winners, their hometowns, the media they work in and the booth where they are located at the show are:

In addition, Polk Museum of Art gave two Purchase Awards — to Richard Currier, an oil & acrylic artist from Micco, Fla. (Booth #95), and William Kidd, a clay artist from Miramar, Fla. (Booth #101) — to add two pieces of artwork to the Museum’s Permanent Collection.
Artists will be presented their awards at an awards ceremony that begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8, on the front lawn of the Lakeland Public Library. The Museum annually awards about $25,000 in award money at MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by-the-Lake.
The judge for this year’s MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by-the-Lake is Ellen Simak, chief curator of the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tenn.
