Collection in Focus

IMG_3115.jpg

Every museum has thousands of works in storage that rarely get to be seen by the public. With our new Collection in Focus Talks, we pull back the curtain. Attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to delve into hidden gems and curiosities of our collection and to learn about works of art not often on display. With objects removed from storage just for the day and for those who attend, each talk will feature different under-studied areas of the permanent collection and be led by an expert in the field.

In this Collection in Focus, Jennifer Moffitt will discuss a selection of artwork by female artists in the Museum's Permanent Collection.

Jennifer Leigh Moffitt is Assistant Professor of English at Florida Southern College. She completed a BA in English with minors in Art History and Women’s Studies at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC; an MA in Literature at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA; and a PhD in Literature with specialties in nineteenth-century American literature and visual culture studies at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Her research and teaching interests include American literature, women’s literature, visual culture studies, and critical analyses of gender, race, and sexuality.
