Creating a Body of Work Figuring out who you are as an artist, whether painting is a hobby or a profession, is the single most challenging and rewarding thing you can do on your creative journey. No teacher can tell you who you are or how much talent you have. During this workshop, you will work through some of the activities I use on a regular basis on my continuing artistic journey. We will be discussing brain stuff like how to find good reference materials, choosing images, & breaking away from photos; but being the creative kinesthetic/visual learners we are -we will be spending most of our time together painting as we focus on how to identify and develop a recurrent theme. This workshop, although designed for oil painters, is also open to acrylic painters with a bit of experience. Painters may bring in their own reference photos, or choose from mine. Please no portraits-that's a whole different workshop! *Note: we will not be painting this specific series-this is an example of a current series I'm working on. The idea is to create your own series based on concepts which speak for you as an artist.

Carney is an award-winning artist based in Central Florida. Educated in England at University of London’s Chelsea School of Art and Queen’s College, she brings her knowledge of the classics to her classes to help support the newer techniques with solid technical experience.
