Every second Saturday (September - May), participants will be to introduced to one of the Museum's exhibitions in a fun, entertaining and accessible manner through hands-on learning for all ages and skills.  Labs are led by professional artists or art educators whom will engage participants in creating their own piece of artwork or experience their own interaction through a wide array of art mediums, techniques and connecting conversations relating to a specific exhibition on display in the Museum.

Rachel Stewart received a BFA in sculpture from Boston University College of Fine Arts and has a MA from Union Institute and University in Creativity Studies with a concentration on 12th and 13th century Ethiopian iconography. She lived and worked in Jamaica making it her home for twenty years.  She taught at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and exhibited her sculptures in various galleries including the National Gallery of Jamaica. Her work can be seen in private and corporate collections throughout Jamaica including three large wall murals in the Springs Plaza in Kingston, Life of Jamaica New Kingston Shopping Plaza and won the Governor Generals Award for her collaborative mosaic wall mural located in the Coal Yard Market in downtown Kingston. Photos of her sculptures can be seen in publications such as Dare to Dream by Ken Ramsay and The Garden Party Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Bank of Jamaica.

Stewart lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida and currently teaches art at Creative Clay. She has taught stone sculpture, life drawing, and mixed media techniques in a variety of institutions; Ringling School of Art and Design, Blake High School, Polk Museum of Art and Southeastern University in Lakeland.  In January 2014 she was the guest artist at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts and had a solo show in PCCA Gallery One. She worked as an Assistant Curator at the Morean Arts Center and as a Program Supervisor at the Youth Arts Corps. Stewart’s work has won various awards including the Artist Resource Fund from the Pinellas Arts Council. She is the recipient of the 2016 St. Petersburg Arts Alliance Grant.
