[Virtual] Drinks with the Director: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Hispanic influence and innovation can be realized and appreciated in countless aspects of our culture — and art is no exception!

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we have invited the artist Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso, whose exhibition “A Brush with HerStory” is currently on display at the Polk Museum; Sam Romero, Associate Professor of Art at Florida Southern College; and Martha Placeres, Director of Orchestra and String Studies at Florida Southern College to join Dr. Alex Rich, Executive Director and Chief Curator, as they discuss the history and deep influences of Hispanic culture in art in the United States, its impact on their own work and creativity, and what they hope the future holds for Hispanic artists around the country and the world.

Recorded Thursday, October 1 at 7 pm via Facebook Live.
