How to Make an Avocado Fly with MiKayla White
Lab starts at 10:30am
Free for Members, $5 per Non-Member
Pre-registration is required.
In this ArtLab, author-illustrator Mikayla White will share concept art from her STEM-focused picture-book How to Make an Avocado Fly. She will guide future creators through a fun tutorial on how to draw their own version of Lilli’s best bird friend, Avocado! Participants will learn what it takes to design a character and how designs sometimes change. In the book, Lilli always makes sure her best friend is ready for their adventures. Now, future artists attending this ArtLab will have the opportunity to create a version of their own adventuring Avocado!
Book Signing:
A book signing of How to Make and Avocado Fly will immediately follow the ArtLab. Bring your own copy or purchase one in the Museum Gift Shop!
No pre-registration required for the book signing.
Mikayla White was born and raised in Lakeland. She started in graphic design at Ringling College of Art and Design, which is where she learned she loved to sculpt, build, and weld. However, that passion didn’t immediately translate into creating books. Instead, as a homeschooling parent, she rediscovered her love for creating when she started teaching art to her children.
