Each month, participants will be introduced to one of the Museum's exhibitions in a fun, entertaining, and accessible manner through hands-on learning for all ages and skills. Labs are led by professional artists or art educators who will engage participants in creating their own piece of artwork or experience their own interaction through a wide array of art mediums, techniques, and connecting conversations relating to a specific exhibition on display in the Museum.
IN-PERSON LABS: These labs will take place at the Museum with your health and the health of others in mind. To ensure your safety, classrooms will be sanitized regularly, class sizes will be limited, and masks MAY be required to be worn by staff, instructors, and students while in the Museum

Animals in Art

Join Arts4All Florida staff, Karla Aguayo and Jennifer Sabo, as they explore the exhibition When We Were Young: Children and Animals in Art from the Golisano Children's Museum of Naples. Karla and Jennifer will begin with a 20-minute tour in the galleries exploring animal representation in art across cultures and through the ages, followed by a hands-on activity in the classrooms.
Activity: Participants will make a collage of an animal using a variety of materials. This activity is appropriate for all ages and skill levels. Please bring two printed pictures of a beloved pet or a favorite animal as inspiration for your piece.
Karla Aguayo is a first generation Mexican-American. She is the Program Director at Arts4All Florida with experience in hospitality, museum education, event management, and adjunct teaching. She earned her M.A. in Art History from the University of South Florida; her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Florida. Karla has held positions at The Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, The Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Pete, and the Tampa Museum of Art. She transitioned to teaching hybrid courses in 2020 at USF and the University of Tampa. Karla is passionate about engaging with community members through accessible youth and family programs. She hopes to connect young creatives to opportunities as diverse as they are.
Jennifer Sabo is the Executive Director of Arts4All Florida and provides leadership and management to Arts4All Florida’s statewide arts organization, supervising all functions related to administration, fundraising, and programming. Prior to arriving at Arts4All Florida, Ms. Sabo served as Executive Director at the Children’s Museum of Alamance County, Director of Education at the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, and Youth Programs Manager at the Ringling Museum of Art. Ms. Sabo serves as a member of the Parent Involvement and Engagement Strategic Planning Committee for the Florida Department of Education- Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services and as a panel reviewer for a variety of grants. Ms. Sabo has a Master of Arts in Museum Studies with a concentration in Education from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
