The Art of Film presents a forum for appreciating movies as an art form. With audience Q&A and talkback sessions with film directors and faculty from Florida Southern College following each screening, this unique Polk Museum series will entertain, engage, and educate audiences of all ages.

I Am Not a Witch (2017)

Director: Rungano Nyoni

Synopsis: Shula is the first child taken to a traveling witch camp, where she is told that should she cut the ribbon and attempt to escape, she will be cursed and transformed into a goat.

Director Bio: Rungano Nyoni is a Zambian-Welsh director and screenwriter. Born in Zambia, she emigrated to Wales at the age of nine. A graduate of the University of Arts in London, she directed several short films (The List, Mwansa the Great, Listen), which won her awards and welcome criticism. Listen (Kuuntele) received the Best Short Film Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015. Her first feature length fiction, I Am Not a Witch, was selected at the Directors' Fortnight of Cannes Film Festival 2017. This film earned her the Best Director and Best Director Award for a first film at the 20th British Independent Film Awards 2017.
