Join us for Point of View Gallery talks every second Friday of the month at noon.
Dr. H. Alexander Rich is the Curator and Director of Galleries and Exhibitions, an Assistant Professor of Art History and the Director of the Art History program at Florida Southern College. Dr. Rich is a specialist in Modern and Contemporary Art History, with a particular focus on European and American art of the 19th and 20th centuries. He earned his Ph.D. in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and his A.B. from Dartmouth College.
This month, Rich will discuss "Faces in the Crowd: Perspectives on American Figuration from the New Permanent Collection." Taking visitors through this showcase of new permanent collection works, Dr. Rich will examine the concept of identity in art -- that of artists themselves and of the people they depict -- and delve into the many approaches to representing the human figure in art.
