Join us for a free public lecture at Florida Southern College’s Melvin and Burks Galleries with artists Cristina Molina and Jonathan Traviesa.
Multimedia artists Cristina Molina and Jonathan Traviesa will discuss the inspiration and behind-the-scenes making of their collaborative exhibition “Sad Tropics,” a site-specific photography and video installation that celebrates and critiques the eccentricities of the Floridian aspiration. Themes related to Florida mythology, the language of paradise, and utopian fantasy will be discussed. An audience question-and-answer period will follow their talk. A complimentary reception will be offered concluding the program.
Sad Tropics is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
