Last year, we asked artists from across the Central Florida community to submit work for our Hindsight 2020: Art of This Moment online exhibition. A truly contemporary exhibition, Hindsight 2020 sought art produced since March 2020 and that represented a diverse spectrum of perspectives, ideas, and reflections upon the transformative five months of our lives between March and August 2020.

In this new installment of Hindsight 2020, we selected nine artworks from our online exhibition to revisit and to present for the first time in our galleries as an opportunity to reflect further upon how our lives have changed in the past year. With rays of hope and setbacks along the way, our community understands the challenges we continue to face each day. Yet, alongside the familiar iconography of masks and the feelings of uncertainty that are still prevalent today, we found that our community cherishes even the smallest moments spent together, no matter how mundane they may appear. One year later, we have proven that, despite our perceived differences, our community is unified through its shared experiences and resilience.

In addition to the works on display from our original Hindsight online show, this exhibition features an installation of origami swans, which hung initially at Lakeland Regional Health. The swans were created to honor the patients treated at the center; the poignant display of paper-built cranes represent the dizzying number of lives lost, saved despite, and touched by the pandemic.
