[Watch] Chagall and Brooks: Two Outsiders in Paris Lecture

Curator and Director of Galleries & Exhibitions at the Polk Museum of Art H. Alexander Rich, Ph.D. gives the opening lecture for the fall 2018 - 2019 season of exhibitions at the Polk Museum of Art. This lecture discusses the Marc Chagall exhibit curated by Dr. Rich titled, "Chagall: Stories into Dreams". This extraordinary show of Marc Chagall’s work will be the only one of its kind in Florida and the only one in the country that pairs his Fables of La Fontaine etchings (1952) with his Story of Exodus lithographs (1966). The lecture looks at the other exhibit "The Art of Romaine Brooks". An extraordinarily independent woman, Brooks crafted an androgynous appearance and a unique artistic voice that challenged conventions of how women should look and behave during the early twentieth century. Romaine Brooks is on loan from the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
