Rebels With a Cause presents outstanding selections of paintings, drawings and sculptures from The Huntsville Museum of Art’s recently acquired Sellars Collection of Art by American Women. Featuring 54 works that exemplify the strong effect that French impressionism had on American art beginning in the late 19th century by 53 talented female artists, this exhibition should not to be missed.
Peter Baldaia, the Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Huntsville Museum of Art, will discuss this collection indepth. Baldaia was formerly Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Rockford Art Museum in Illinois, and Curator at the Fuller Museum of Art in Brockton, Mass. Baldaia holds a B.F.A. from Rhode Island College and a MA in Art History and Museum Studies from Boston University Graduate School.
