Point of View Gallery Talk: Holly Scoggins

Join us for Point of View Gallery talks every second Friday of the month at noon. 

February's POV Gallery talk will be with Holly Scoggins. Scoggins will discuss our current exhibition, "American Impressionism: The Lure of the Artists’ Colony" from an artist's perspective, discussing the formal elements, painting techniques, and personal interpretation of works from this exhibition.  

Holly Ann Scoggins was born and raised in a small abandoned cotton mill town in Western North Carolina. This southern upbringing has richly infused her paintings. Critics have described her patterned and figurative artworks as "Beautifully Haunted." Scoggins received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from East Carolina University and a Master of Fine Arts in Figurative Painting and Printmaking from the New York Academy of Art. Scoggins has studied at various institutions such as Savannah College of Art and Design, Penland School of Crafts, Lamar Dodd School of Art in Cortona Italy, and the Liepzig Internat ional Artist program in Germany. Her paintings and prints are included but not limited to i n the permanent collection of The University of Georgia, Florida Museum of Art & Culture, Dominica n University, Chanel Fine Art and more. Her work has been exhibited regionally and internationally. Scoggins is full-time
faculty of Fine Art at Polk State College teaching painting, drawing, design and figurative painting and drawing.
