Through the Lens: Photography as an Art Form (Evening)

Fee: $165 Members, $215 Non-Members

Photographers of all skill levels are invited to venture into the world of fine art photography with any digital camera device; smart phone, iPad, DSLR, mirrorless, or point and shoot-type cameras. Throughout this course, students will learn about the history of photography as well as a variety of photographers and styles. This class will teach students how to be visual storytellers and create images they can be proud of.

Topics will include:

  • Advanced compositional tools

  • Guide to proper exposure and alternate settings

  • Tabletop photography and lighting techniques

  • Travel and portrait photography

Supplies:

Participants will be responsible for providing their own digital camera device.

Rick Runion is an award-winning photojournalist and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Ohio University. After a full-time career as a photojournalist, Runion started a new career as a Visual Arts Teacher at Rochelle School of the Arts in Lakeland, Florida, where he taught Visual Arts and photography for nine years. 

Runion has been an art and photography instructor at the Museum for over 15 years, and is currently an adjunct photography professor at Southeastern University.

Any registrations submitted after the registration deadline includes a $35 late fee.

REFUNDS

All refund requests must be submitted in writing and will incur a $35 handling fee. If a class or workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be available. If a class or workshop is not cancelled and refund is requested, a reimbursement will be made in full up to seven days prior to the class or workshop starting date. No reimbursement will be made after the seven-day period.
