Unlock the storyteller within you in this creative writing course designed for aspiring fiction writers. Whether you are harboring a story idea or simply curious about the craft, this introduction to fiction writing will equip you with the tools and insights you need to get started.

The class will explore fundamental questions like "What makes a story a story?" and “Why do stories matter?” It will also cover the mechanics of storytelling, and fiction’s deeper purpose. We will also cover various approaches to storytelling, discuss productive writing habits, and debunk some common myths that hold writers back (psst, writer’s block isn’t a real thing).

Each session will include dedicated time for questions and discussion and, starting from week one, you will be encouraged to begin your own story, with optional constructive feedback available to help you refine your work.

Supplies:

Bring something you enjoy writing with and a lined notebook dedicated to the class. Outlines and bullet points will be provided of each evening lecture as well.
