Intro to Clay (Daytime)

Express your creativity in clay! You will have the opportunity to create 3-4 different projects during this six-week class. These projects will include both functional and decorative pieces and are designed to build foundational skills in ceramics and express your unique creative style. Learn a variety of hand-building techniques such as pinching, slab building, coiling, and surface design. You will also have the opportunity to express your creativity as you learn introductory glazing techniques. These projects are designed for beginner and intermediate clay enthusiasts.


Diana Harrison is an artist, designer, and potter. Diana is a proud Dreadnaught from Lakeland High School who attended Polk Community College before heading to Florida State University to study Interior Design and Art History. After earning her degree, she worked for over 20 years in the furniture industry merchandising multiple showrooms. She took her first class at the Museum where she immediately felt connected to clay and fell in love with creating ceramic art. (Texture has always been one of her favorite elements in interiors and ceramics.) Today, years later, Diana enjoys teaching ceramics at Marvelous Mud Pottery Studio and at the Museum. She is also the Co-Host of The Pottery Student podcast with Rachelle Eason.

Any registrations submitted after the registration deadline includes a $35 late fee.

REFUNDS

All refund requests must be submitted in writing and will incur a $35 handling fee. If a class or workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be available. If a class or workshop is not cancelled and refund is requested, a reimbursement will be made in full up to seven days prior to the class or workshop starting date. No reimbursement will be made after the seven-day period.
